Speakers on the Menopause
One of the topic areas we have supplied speakers for in the past has been the menopause and with October being World Menopause Awareness Month, we wanted to share with you some of the speakers we work with who speak on their own experiences, but also help support women to thrive in their careers during their menopause and also help encourage institutional workplace change by helping break down stigmas by aiding employers to build a culture of support and empowerment for women.

Kathryn Colas is a hugely respected voice and speaker for women going through the menopause.
Kathryn Colas resigned from a senior executive role in hotel management because of an unknown challenge that she was totally unprepared for. Menopause, the debilitating symptoms, lack of awareness, and the dense shroud of taboo were totally unexpected and difficult to accept. As someone who had always relied on her inner resilience, perseverance, and bounce-back approach, Kathryn decided to pursue answers to all of the questions that simply didn’t make any sense.
Kathryn began to investigate, starting with a series of whys, including why this natural transition was not on any workplace agenda and why women were simply expected to put up and shut up.
In 2012 she founded her first business, the women’s advice and support service Simply Hormones, and became a sought-after media commentator and public speaker, recognised for her work with NGOs, public and private sector organisations in improving understanding of menopausal symptoms; empowering women with better information while influencing policy and practices in the workplace.
Angela Lamont is a vastly experienced Conference Host, Conference Facilitator, Awards Presenter, and keynote speaker, whose specialty is presenting science, technology, and engineering events and television shows.
One of her speaking topics includes the MenoBridge
The MenoBridge – about how the menopause does NOT affect 50% of the population…it affects us all, because we all work with, or live with, or employ, or work for, or are friends with, someone who is going through the menopause. BUPA recently revealed that over 900,000 women have left their jobs due to the menopause. Female suicides have been hitting the news lately. If men suffered something similar, the UK would lose a huge percentage of its CEOs (96% of FTSE 350 CEOs are currently men over 45). Those going through menopause have no idea when, or what…or how much…is going to happen. But, with a little help and understanding, it can all be so very different and employers are not waiting for new government legislation to go through; they’re making a menobridge and changing the face of the workplace.
