Richard West
Leadership & High Performance Speaker
Richard West is an internationally experienced businessman, motivational speaker and published author with a commercial background in Formula 1® Motor Racing.
His earlier career encompassed senior sponsorship and marketing roles with the McLaren, Arrows and the Williams F1® Teams as well as being a main board director of the TWR Jaguar Team, winners of the classic Le Mans and Daytona 24 hour sports car races. During his career he has raised one hundred and sixty-five million USD’s worth of sponsorship.
Richard West also acted as the overall Administrator of the British Touring Car Championship for a four year period and he has worked with racing greats such as Niki Lauda, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Damon Hill, Nigel Mansell and Michael Schumacher.
A published author, his ‘Performance at the Limit – Business Lessons from Formula 1® Motor Racing’ series of books have been released in three separate editions to date in English, Japanese, Chinese and Turkish. The original edition served as the inspiration for the award-winning BBC World eight-part TV documentary series ‘Formula for Success’ which Richard West also researched and co-presented.
In recent years Richard West has overseen the building and operation of a bespoke rail sector performance and safety training centre in Melbourne Australia as well as delivering speaking and training assignments in the UAE and within the UK and Europe for a wide range of clients. Additionally, he is a Visiting Fellow of the Cranfield School of Management.
Drawing upon personal business experiences and his time spent working with world beating teams and Drivers, allied to the learnings obtained from the ‘Performance at the Limit’ research process and the extensive knowledge gained from 95 interviews with 65 respondents contained within the three editions, his Speaking Topics include:
