Neurodiversity Speakers
Neurodiversity refers to the differences in the way people’s brains work. People who are neurodiverse often think about and see the world differently, and these differences are to be embraced and encouraged.
It is estimated that around 1 in 7 people in the UK have some kind of neuro difference. These are just a few Neurodiversity speakers we work with who talk on neurodiversity and/or share their own personal stories.
Matt Bird is a serial entrepreneur and high-impact communicator and inspirational speaker. Matt is the Founder and CEO of PublishU enabling over 100 people a year to write, publish, and launch their books to a global audience. He has also authored over 20 books himself and writes for The Times newspaper
Matt Bird was in remedial English classes at school and graduated believing he was stupid because that is what most of his teachers told him. In his twenties, he was diagnosed with dyslexia, and after overcoming the initial stigma, he embraced neurodiversity as his advantage rather than his disadvantage in life. Michael Barton is a keynote speaker on autism, Asperger’s syndrome, and neurodiversity and has been speaking at events for over a decade.
Michael has given hundreds of talks to date and been featured around the media from Channel 4 and the BBC to the New Scientist magazine. He also gave a TED talk at TEDx Oxford in January 2023 – which led him to becoming patron of CASPA – a charity based in South East London that runs youth clubs for young people on the autism spectrum.
Michael is the author of three books, “It’s Raining Cats and Dogs” and “A Different Kettle of Fish”, both published by Jessica Kingsley Publishers, plus his most recent book “What Has Autism Ever Done For Us?”
Araceli Camargo is a cognitive neuroscientist and science communicator. She was the lab director at The Centrica Lab which is in partnership with UCL. She takes her expertise in cognitive flexibility into corporate settings and encourages companies to enable changes in their work habits, with tools rather than processes.
Pioneering the school of thought that understanding how the brain works and learning how to interact with it effectively is paramount to every working practice. She uses this idea to give us insight into how to think, how to problem solve, and how to deal with constant change
She holds an MSc in Neuroscience from King’s College London, where she studied the attentional differences between people with Autism Spectrum Disorder and normative individuals. The study was part of the EU-AIMS, which is the largest single grant for autism in the world, and the largest for the study of any mental health disorder in Europe.
Alison Edgar MBE is not your average speaker; she’s a dynamic yet relatable catalyst for business success.
